Caring for your Pizza Stone is easy, and here are a few things to keep in mind. Your Pizza Stone will darken with use, and this is normal. Your Pizza Stone is ready to use. You should not season it with olive oil or other cooking oils. The Kamado Joe Heat Deflector must be used with the Pizza Stone to avoid burning the pizza.The Pizza Stone should always be used in conjunction with the Kamado Joe Heat Deflector otherwise it will get too hot and will burn your food. The stone will darken with use which is quite normal. Take care not to use any oils during cooking or chemicals for cleaning as these will be absorbed into the porous stone. The stone is ready to use as it is. To clean don't use water, just brush off any food residues using a wire BBQ brush. Store the stone in a dry place. Other helpful tips: The stone will get very hot, so don't place it on any non heat-resistant surfaces Not designed for use on a stovetop cooker Do not soak to clean, the stone will absorb too much moisture and may crack the next time you use it in your Kamado.
