Recapping Our First Chef Takeover With Ruth Hansom

We proudly welcomed guests to Toolshed @ W2, our culinary retail experience and training facility in the heart of Connaught Village London, on 4th March, for our very first chef takeover event with the wonderful Ruth Hansom.

Starting with Ruth, our newly launched chef takeover events aim to showcase some of the UK’s most acclaimed chefs as well as some of the rising stars in the industry and we wanted to share a few of our own highlights.

Who Is Ruth Hansom?

Ruth is an extremely talented young chef and, while working as a chef at the Ritz London, won Young National Chef of the Year in 2017 – the first woman ever to win the title.

Ruth was highly revered by guest judges and secured future backing when she appeared last year on BBC’s My Million Pound Menu. She is currently the Head Chef of the 2 AA Rosette Wernher Restaurant at the 5 Star Luton Hoo Hotel and Spa which offers the finest British cuisine and has been praised for its use of seasonal local produce.

Dining In An Intimate, Relaxed Environment

Guests at the chef takeover were able to interact with Ruth throughout the lunch and dinner in a relaxed environment, where she shared hints and tips along with her recipes for the 5-course menu, all of which were cooked using our own sous vide products.

One guest commented on the event, saying; “Thank you so much for the event yesterday. We really enjoyed it and learning about new techniques and ingredients etc. It was so nice to see a chef at work too! Very inspiring.”

The event sold out within an hour of tickets being released, with an additional lunch being added to satisfy some of the demand.

At the Chef Takeover event, Ruth treated our guests to:

Snacks On Arrival.


Slow cooked St Ewe Eggs, Potato Foam, Jerusalem Artichoke Crisps, Watercress & Truffle Sauce.

Aylesbury Duck Breast (sous vide) with Roasted Endive (sous vide with orange juice and spices), Turnip, Jasmin Raisins & Apricot.

Lemon, Sous Vide Rhubarb & Ginger.
